I think it might be the other way around- they know they can trust Theo to keep an eye on Xavier/talk him out of doing anything stupid. They’re both in a State right now, but one is banged up physically and the other emotionally.
Val has not had a productive day today. She tried to get Theo to stay and he didn’t like that. Then she tried to get Xavier to leave and he really didn’t like that.
